Married to a banana tree
a film by Sonja Wyss
Nikita, a young Indian artist from Mumbai (and most recently London), is married to a banana tree. According to Indian tradition, this is necessary to avert the bad karma of her future "human" marriage. Slowly torn between family relationships and superstition/religion, she tries to find her own identity/way. Married to a banana tree depicts the primal human struggle between the desire for security versus the desire for freedom.
