Artemis at international film festivals!
Artemis: The Neverending Quartet screened at two international film festivals this month.

 
Hester Overmars her documentary about the famous Berlin based string quartet Artemis Quartet, was already screened at the Banff International String Festival in Canada at the 3th of September. This Sunday the film will also be screened at the Flagey String Quartet Weekend in Brussels.

Artemis: the Neverending Quartet follows the string quartet through one of their most turbulent years to date. When the last founding member decides to leave in 2018, the quartet is shaken to its core. The quartet has to be reconstructed once more. Will the shared love for music be strong enough for the Artemis Quartet to persevere? Click here for more information.

Selected for EURODOC2021
Eline van Wees is selected for the upcoming edition of EURODOC!

 
Together with 28 other producers from all over the world, Basalt Film’s Producer Eline van Wees is selected for EURODOC21. With ‘Dear Destiny’, a documentary by Marc Schmidt, she will participate in this year’s edition of the training. EURODOC is an International Lab for Creative Documentary Production. With their yearly training, they provide an opportunity for producers to develop their project on an international level. Congratulations Eline!

Basalt Film x Ammodo
New documentary series in collaboration with Ammodo Foundation

 
The series consists of portraits of artists and scientists. Ammodo Foundation is convinced that artists and scientists often see things before other people. Therefore, they initiate, develop and support projects in the visual arts, performing arts and sciences.

The first film of the series is already in production and will be directed by Carin Goeijers. With her camera, she portrays the interdisciplinary composer Michel van der Aa.

Swiss premiere of Farewell Paradise
Farewell Paradise was screened at the Swiss Film Festival Solothurner Filmtage.

 
Sonja Wyss' debut Feature Length Documentary Farewell Paradise was screened at the Swiss Solothurner Filmtage last weekend. Solothurner was the first Swiss Festival to screen the documentary, making it the Swiss national premiere.

Farewell Paradise at the cinema!
From October 29th Farewell Paradise will be running in the movie theatres and cinemas all over the country.

 
After a successful pre-premiere at EYE Amsterdam, Farewell Paradise: Memories of a broken family will be screened at the movie theatres and cinemas through all of the Netherlands from October 29th, 2020. Golden Calf for Carrousel!
Marina Meijer wins a Golden Calf for best short documentary at NFF 2020!

 
With her film Carrousel Marina Meijer wins the Golden Calf for ‘best short documentary’ at the fortieth edition of the Dutch Film Festival! The film was well received by the jury who described it as ‘impossible not to get touched’. Marina dedicated her award to the main characters of the film: Nabil, Tayfun, Delgano and the other members of De Nieuwe Kans. Click here for the full jury rapport.
